Joel Trevino
Hi my name is Joel Trevino, I am 19 years old and graduated from Elkton High School. I cant really talk or write about past dating experiences, because I have none. I lean towards Pastor Mike’s viewpoint in the no dating thing. I do because I believe that God has someone perfectly chosen for me. This way I let God choose for me instead of me trying to figure out who the right one is on my own. That is why I think that one of the reasons why people go from relationship to relationship is because they keep making the wrong choice, not allowing to see what Jesus has to say about the person who they are dating. But as I have been waiting patiently for God to bring her into my life I have formed many crushes on girls. Whenever I would get a crush on a girl I would always think that, “oh, she must be the one God has chosen for me.” So instead of me asking the girl out and start dating her, I would go and talk to Jesus first. This way I wouldn’t have the chance of intimately getting to know someone and then later be hurt by finding out that she wasn’t for me. When I would pray to Jesus I would tell Him that I really like this girl and that I didn’t know if she was the one he has chosen for me. If she is then I would ask God to let my relationship with her grow and if not then let me not see her for a long time. I would pray that so my crush would be able to fade away and that I could focus all my attention back on Jesus. I have prayed that prayer many times and have gotten the same answer from God every time. The girls who I formed crushes on, I wouldn’t see for months at a time. It is hard dealing with that answer from God, but then I always remember that I don’t need a wife and that Jesus is all I need. He fills that emptiness I have in me and he shows that to me during the perfect time when I need to know it most. When in the long periods of time of me not seeing the girl I thought was the one. But when the day comes when Jesus has her ready for me, I would want her to know that I didn’t need to date anyone else but her. I want her to know that she is perfect for me and that God perfectly chose her and me to be together. I would also want her to feel the same way about me. I believe that it is like this for everybody. As us being young, dating and sex is one of the biggest temptations we face. I know that at times we all fall but remember that Jesus has already forgiven us for our sins past, present and future. If we remember that Jesus is all we need and focus just on Him then everything else will fall into place.
