Stephanie McGrath
Hey, My name is Stephanie McGrath, I am 19 and attend Delaware College of Aft and Design. I have been a Christian for almost 9years. I have many friends, who are Christians, and who are not Christians; however, they seem to face a lot of the same issues, one being dating. As a Christian dating can be hard to deal with. How do I deal with it? Easy, I don’t; I haven’t dated anyone, why, simply because if I were to date someone my older brothers would kill them (just kidding ? ). The reason I haven’t dated anyone is because I know that God has already cho0sen someone for me and will bring him to me when the time is right. Therefore, dating sounds kind of pointless. Here’s one way I look at it. Dating can be like buying shoes. You walk around the store until you see a pair of shoes you like, try them on, and think they are perfect. Then after a while your shoes start to get worn out you just don’t like to wear them anymore, so you get rid of them and go get a new pair until they get old and so on, sound weird? Well here’s how it can relate to dating. You see someone you think you like and want to get to know so you start dating. Then after a while find out they’re not right for you, so you break up. Then you find another person, then that relationship fails and so on. How do I know this happens if I’ve never dated? Well, many of my close friends have been in this type of situation and I saw the pain they went through. I know that God does not want this for me or anyone. I don’t think it’s really wrong to date I just don’t see a need for it. God already has a person especially for me and I don’t need to date a bunch of guys trying to find him because God will reveal him to me when the time is right. However, it’s not always easy sitting and waiting for the right time (especially since I’m not a patient person). When I start to wonder who God has in store for me or when God is pong to place him in my life I just remind myself that God has a plan and he knows what’s best. So I just try to keep focused on God and pray that the person God wants me to be with also stays focused on God as well. I kind of think of it as a triangle, God’s at the top point, and me and whoever and the bottom on opposite sides, and as we both keep focusing on God we move up the triangle toward God where eventually we will meet. So for right now I am just doing my best to get closer to God and know that he has a perfect plan for my life, one more awesome than I can ever imagine!
