1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
This week God showed me that all we need is faith. Before we came, God showed me what the great commission said. “These signs will accompany the believers… they will be able to handle snakes & other creatures safely.” This gave me the faith that the dangerous spiders won’t be a problem. It also said “they will be able to drink anything poisonous and will be fine” which showed me that the water wouldn’t be a problem although I tried not to drink it because the Bible also says “do not test the Lord your God.” But most importantly it said “they will speak in tongues” that showed me to all that have faith the language won’t be a problem. All these things happened which strengthened my faith even more.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
God used many experiences to strengthen my faith, but one that really stuck out was the second day of VBS. The first day was a little tough there were 70 kids when we expected 15 so we didn’t have enough crafts so it was very discouraging. The second day I didn’t expect all 76 kids to show up since the problems the day before. I was going into the second day expecting 50 and no one to be there early. When we showed there were 50 kids on the benches waiting for us. This trip showed me that Jesus can do amazing things. The fact that these kids wanted to worship Jesus, no matter if the songs were in English or in Spanish was amazing.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way.
God used us in many ways. On Friday, we went to the market to minister and do dramas. Okay, this market was 3,000 people with 3 different languages coming together in 2 blocks with the border of Haiti open to anyone. We did a drama in the street which was very busy with cars, trucks, motorcycles and people. We rented a truck with a generator, amplifier and huge speakers on the back. Through our Spanish translators, Pastor Mike invited the crowds to come. Unfortunately, many of the Haitians in the market only spoke creol. We did the drama “This Blood” right in the street and had worship completely in English, the people stayed and tried to learn the English to sing along. God also used us through door-to-door evangelism & prayer. It started to pour down rain and a woman invited us into her house. Three of us went in and prayed for peace in her family, but this just wasn’t standing in the doorway and praying. They were eating dinner, but they gave up their seats so we could sit in their home. And just praying for them, you could see God move.
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?
When we get home, I’m going to take with me the fact that faith, blessings and love come in all shapes and sizes and that it doesn’t matter what language you speak, worship is the universal language. GLORY TO GOD!
