1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
This week God taught me that you don’t have to save millions or do some big miracle to have an impact on people. Even the smallest thing will impact people. Whether it is playing ball with a child or asking someone if they need prayer. Meeting these small needs can truly change a person. Also God taught me this week not to worry because when you worry you interfere with what God wants to do through you. He told me that when I begin to worry, to just turn to Him and he will rain down his peace on you.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
The most touching experience during the mission trip for me was the church service at Los Lomas on Tuesday. We were going to do a big service outside, but it starting raining so we ended up waiting in the church to find out what we would be doing. After a little while Mike McGrath began to play his guitar. I started to sing and dance. I just couldn’t help myself. I was completely engulfed in God’s presence. Even as the church service inside started, I continued to praise God. I truly had no idea what came over me. This feeling didn’t go away till late last night. Ever since that night I have just been in complete awe of God. I just can not get over how much of an awesome God we worship and how unworthy I am to praise Him. Yet despite how unworthy I am, he still wants to grow closer to me.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way.
On Thursday during the youth group rally at Los Miches, God had left a heavy burden on my heart for this one boy, Franklin I meet at VBS. God had been telling me that he had great plans for Franklin. Also he told me that Franklin would accept Jesus this week. I doubted God because Franklin was so fidgety during VBS and never seemed to pay any attention. God proved me wrong when Franklin raised his hand at the end of the service when we invited people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Right after the service Franklin left so I went up the road after him. I soon found him and asked him if he was serious about accepting Jesus and he said, “yes.” When he said it, I could see that he was being sincere. Then I realized that I had no idea what to say, so I turned to God for the words. As soon as I let go of my worries, the words began to pour out. I don’t remember what I said that night, but I know that it was all God. I praise God that I was able to just be in His presence and allow him to flow through me to save another soul.
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?
I am going to take home with me the importance of prayer. Truly God should be involved in every decision you make, no matter how small they may seem. I have seen this week that God does answer prayers whether it may be through a vision, others, or through scripture. Now on I will pray about all things and expect an answer.
