1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
God taught me how to truly enjoy and love life no matter what. The people here are so happy and so grateful for everything they have. The little kids we worked with were just so amazingly content with their circumstances. These people live in conditions that I have never had to deal with, but I never heard anyone complain. They just wanted to play with us and love us. God taught me that no matter what I am going through, all I need is His love and maybe someone to play with.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
I saw the power of God on Tuesday night when we attempted to have an outdoor service for the second time and again we got rain. It was just so powerful to be standing in the street with these girls just dancing and worshiping with me. I just felt God’s presence surround me and fill me and spill over from inside of me. There is nothing like it. That night when it started to rain, the rain didn’t stop us we just moved under a “thatched roof carport” and continued to worship. The rain was pouring down, but our hearts were overflowing with so much love for God that we just couldn’t stop praising Him. That night I also had the opportunity to lead several kids to Christ and just seeing these kids accept Christ touched me so greatly. God’s power was so strong and it truly caused me to hunger for Him more.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way.
The first day we did door to door ministry, we got stuck in the rain at this one house and we were able to tell the two girls there about VBS. The next few days the two girls, Josie and Elizabeth showed up at VBS and I felt that I truly connected with these girls. I connected with Josie and she stuck with me for VBS and I was able to talk with her. Today we asked for kids who wanted to accept Jesus to find an adult leader and pray with them. Josie was sitting near me so I prayed with her and later, when we asked all the students who had accepted Jesus to raise their hands, Josie’s was high in the air. God used me to lead this precious little girl to him and she is now my sister in Christ. Gloria a Dios.
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?
What I am bringing back is a new boldness for Christ especially at my school. I now know God’s voice and will be able to act when I hear him speak to me without worries. I am also bringing home a new feeling of God’s love for me and a new love for everyone He has created. I love everyone and God gave me this love.
