1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
This week God taught me not to take things for granted and always be thankful for what I have. This week I saw all the hope that the people of D'Iberville still have after they lost everything. Every homeowner that I talked to this week never complained about losing everything or having nothing left. They were just thankful that we were there to help and listen to their stories.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
When I saw the power of God this week it was at the Thursday night service. It was the most intense and powerful service that I have ever experienced. Everyone in our group was praying and I could feel Gods presence everywhere. There was another church group there called Alliance and I could see the power of God working through them. They were all bowing there heads and praying, one girl got up and put her hand on Tara's shoulder and prayed with everyone, another girl in front of me when her group left said that she wasn't ready to go. It touched me that we were all praying together.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way... something that impacted you.
This week God used me in a powerful way to help the Johnson family. I know that God put me on a roofing crew for a reason and it was to help Llyod have his workshop and be able to work in it again. I just knew that all week I was doing this roof for a great reason. He's on a heart transplant list because he had heart problems. On his birthday he said “I made it through another year” This made me sad and just motivated me to work harder because he is sick and really loved that workshop .
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?
I am going to take home with me all the memories that were made and what a great experience this was for me this week. I am going to tell everyone stories of my home owner and the devastation, but the main story will be of all the hope still remains. I am going to be different by being thankful for what I have and that I am closer to God. I will tell about the love and hospitality of my homeowners.
5. What was your favorite part of the trip? What did you like most?
My favorite part of this trip was spending time with my home owners and listening to there stories. I also like working on her roof. I especially loved taking lunch breaks and normal breaks, because Norma Jean was the sweetest lady that you could ever meet. On the last day she made us homemade stew, banana pudding, and sweet tea. It was so delicious. Other days she would set out snacks for us, and one day she went out to get us ice cream because of how hot it was. On the last day she gave each of us a thank you card and a ribbon. Then when we said goodbye she started to cry.
7. Why do you want to go on this trip?
I want to go on this trip to help people whose lives were devastated in the hurricane. I want to reach out and help those people get their lives back on track.
8. Briefly give your testimony.
I have believed in jesus my whole life and we go to church every Sunday. In my daily life, I trust in Him during the day that he will get me through things. I should probably focus more on him during the day, but sometimes I just get off track with school and stuff.
