    P R O J E C T :   R. A. K. E.

For several years, we have taken our students on mission trips to North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia and the city of Pittsburgh. On one of these trips, a student asked us why we had to go so far away to help families when there were so many low income and in-need families where we live. We decided we needed to start a new ministry, and called it Project: RAKE (Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere). Before Columbine victim, Rachel Scott, was killed, she said, “If everyone would perform just one random act of kindness, we could change the world."

Project: RAKE has work days, weekends and retreats throughout the year, where Senior High students and young adults in our community partner with trained adults to give of their time and energy, to help those in need. We have done various roofing projects, dry walling, plumbing and electrical work for those in our community who can’t afford to do home repair. This is an amazing experience, and the perfect opportunity to reach out to those in need.

We like to give students the chance to reach beyond their communities and touch the world. Every other year we go on a mission trip that challenges the students to step out of the comfort zones and take a step closer towards God.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.      John 4:23-24
