1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
This week God changed me in many ways. He changed my attitude toward things. Coming down here I had so many walls built and that hindered me from seeing God's glory. Now I can see that. All the walls I had up came down. I'm so grateful for that. I feel my heart has been transformed, is more joyful, and I think others will be able to see that now.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
I saw the power of God move throughout the whole week in my house. When we first got there we were all in good spirits but as the days & hours went on our morale dropped and we were suddenly getting snappy with each other. Then on the second day Whitney, a twelve-year-old girl with autism came over and lifted our spirits (she was a neighbor). It was just after it rained and she was playing in the puddle at the end of her driveway. She started waving to Elise and she would wave back. Then Elise & Whitney started to bond in a way I can't explain. It was just awesome to see her there. Whitney would come over every day just at the right time, when it seemed we needed a pick-me-up. I thought it was a great gift from God to have this girl in our lives to lift our spirits.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way... something that impacted you.
God used me in a powerful way when we were at Jim's house. We were just there to paint trim as an extra job. So Allison & I went to go and talk to him. He started to tell us his life story and his story about Katrina. We asked if we could pray with him. He kind of looked at us like no one had ever done that for him before. I could feel God's presence there and Him moving in our lives.
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?.
I'm going home a changed person emotionally & spiritually. I also got the chance to meet new people I might not have met otherwise, talked to, and got the chance to know. I have a different heart now, no more walls. “Those who are in Christ are free!” I now know what that means—I am free!!!
5. What was your favorite part of the trip? What did you like most?.
I loved the worship! Also getting to hear stories of what happened to Brenda, our homeowner, and Jim our other homeowner. I'm glad I got to hear their stories.
6. Is there anything else you want to add?.
I want to go back!
