1. What did God teach you this week? How did it transform you?
God taught me that not everyone in the Mississippi area has hope that things will get back to normal. Many people are just now coming back to their homes after Katrina. But through the hundreds of people in D'Iberville volunteer camp we had the opportunity to spread God's love a bit further to those that need to regain hope for normality. It helped me to see that if I remain compassionate it will rub off on others.
2. Tell at least one experience you had where you saw the power of God and it touched you.
It touched me to see how well neighbors work together. My parents have always had stories from long ago about how each neighbor pulled together with meals or work on their houses. In Mississippi they do this same compassionate honor for each other.
3. Tell of one experience where God used you in a powerful way... something that impacted you.
The good Lord allowed me to help Brenda Mills and her son Buddy. For 5 days God gave me the strength to complete each day's work. Brenda now has a new Jacuzzi bathtub and Buddy a shower in their partially finished home. Each day was hot and steamy but every time I needed to use a hammer, saw or drill the upper strength of my body did not fail and it could only come from God I know because I asked for strength when I was how detailed the job.
4. What are you going to take home with you? How are you going to be different?.
I learned that as humble as I thought I was before the trip, there is room to improve my humility to God. The work in D'iberville was intense which lead me to loose my cool twice but God was right by my side and redirected me or helped me to see the bigger picture. When Brenda brought us spaghetti and Meatballs fro lunch, cooked it in a small trailer I regained my mission to give it my all and smile, because she did.
5. What was your favorite part of the trip? What did you like most?.
It was incredible that each clerk, neighbor, and child was so thankful for our presence in Mississippi.
6. Is there anything else you want to add?.
I had a fabulous crew! I thank Blythe, Elise, Allison, Justine, Nick, Stevie, and Bobby for never complaining about the heavy work, heat, or the responsibility required from them. You are wonderful.
